Engine rocking and rolling at idle?  If you have 150K or more on your 240 it may be time for new mounts, right side in particular, it gets oil soaked.  If yours is gone grab a new one and take an hour out of your day and save some money.
Here is a couple of shots of the passenger's side mount in my wife's 245 with 200K on it.   The mount can be changed without removing the alternator if you have a 12mm racheting box end wrench otherwise take the ground off the battery and remove the 2 bolts holding the alt' on and swing it up and out of the way so you can have better access.   The arrow (1) shows the tough to get at bolt.
The 3 bolts holding the bottom bracket have 17mm nuts on them, access the nuts through the hole in the crossmember.

Loosen the 17mm nuts holding the mount to the brackets before removing the brackets from the car, unless you have a large bench vise.

The oil filter is also in the way so now is the time to do an oil change.   I have heard people recomend putting a jack under the pan to lift the engine a bit, it works much better with a 1"X 6"  tucked to the side where the mounting flange for the pan is.  This provides lift only on the side you are working on, jacking in the center lifts the whole engine straining the other mount.

Here is the condition of the mount when removed, totally shot.  The flat metal disc on the left is supposed to be a part of the rubber on the right.
Here is the mount assembly ready to go back in.  Note the bolt in one of the holes, put it in before bolting the brackets to the mount otherwise it will not go in.
Here is the assembly back in place.  The key is to put the 3 lower bolts back though their holes, get the top 3 started and tight then drop the jack, once the weight of the motor is back on the mount the 3 bottom nuts can be tightened.

Don't forget to replace the oil filter.

The other side is about the same to do,  figure on about an hour per side.
