The 4 lamp system is OK, but for driving dark 2 lane roads at 0330 more is better. Sylvania Xtravistion lamps in the outer high/low sockets are an improvement, but the ultimate is H-1 100w high beams. The stock wiring is OK for the stock 65w high beams but a little more is needed to upgrade the lighting or even get 100% out of the stock lights. Please be considerate if you do the H-1 upgrade, these are very bright, the only place/time I use these are with no cars ahead of me on rural roads. Well almost the only time, it's amazing how fast some oncoming inconsiderate a-orifice will remember to dim his lights once you remind him ;-) |

Here's where I located the fuse and relay, just in front of the airbox, there is a conveniant hole there, the clip on the relay goes on top of the hole, the fuse holder is held by a screw, and power comes from the terminal on the alternator. The terminals on the relays are, 85= to ground 86= trigger, ie from old light connector. 30= power from battery, (alternator) 87 &87b = power out to lights. If your relays have 87 & 87a they will only power one light each, you will need 2X as many relays. Look on the older cars in the yard for the good relays |

Here is a shot that will give you the difference between the 65w highs on the outer lights and the 100w H-1 lights on the inner. It's almost impossible to overdrive your lights with this setup. |
